J Scott The Inside Word

FORBURY PARK TC, Thursday, April 6

Race 2: ELLAQUENCE (6, Brent Barclay), mob. 2200m: “She went good at Invercagill first-up and had a quiet run at the trials last week but probably just a place chance from the draw.”

Race 10: AYMAR (8, Blair Orange), mob. 1700m: “It was good to get a win with her at Motukarara. The outside draw makes it tough but she has gate speed and a chance again with the right luck.”

NZ METRO TC, Friday, April 7

Eyre I Come, in good touch in recent months and a chance again in the $80,000 Fred Shaw Memorial NZ Trotting Championship at Addington on Friday night.

Race 2: KOWHAI WHIZ (14, Robbie Close), 1, 30m, 2600m std: “He hasn’t raced since January but had a trial behind Master Lavros last week at Addington. He usually goes alright fresh but looking for luck off 30m.”

Race 6: SAVEAPATROL (2), mob. 2600m: “Will be scratched.”

Race 7: MASTER LAVROS (3, Mark) & EYRE I COME (4, Blair Orange), mob. 2600m: “Master Lavros has come up ok after a brief freshener. He likes to roll along in front so we’ll make the most of the draw and hope he’s good enough.”

“Eyre I Come has stepped up for us and with the right run could be a danger again.”

RACE 9: WHITTAKER (12, Samantha Ottley), mob. 1950m: “He wasn’t able to win his lead-up race last time so we’ve stuck to a grade race rather than the Derby. With the right luck he should be an each-way chance.”

RANGIORA HRC, Sunday, April 9

Race 7: CASTLEREAGH (3, Samantha Ottley) & MAJESTIC LAVROS (SCR),
mob. 2000m: “Providing he does everything right, Castlereagh should be a good each-way chance from the draw.”

Race 9: ICE CRUSHER (SCR), mob. 2000m:

Outside drives

Race 4: BUSHIDO (8), mob. 2000m: “He’s a Bettor’s Delight on debut for Tim Butt so you have to respect the colours.”

Race 8: ARTICULIGHT (9), mob. 2000m: “He’s not a bad horse in a suitable race. Each-way if things go his way.”

Race 9: BETTOR VISION (3), mob. 2000m: “He’s stepping up in grade but looked strong on debut winning his maiden so should be a good each-way chance.”

WINTON HRC, Sunday, April 9

Race 9: GLENFERRIE CLASSIC (7, Craig Ferguson), mob. 1609m: “She’s freshened up but its a good field and has a wide draw so looking for luck.”

Race 10: DELIGHTFUL MEMPHIS (12, Blair Orange), 2400m std: “Delightful Memphis needs another race in Southland to qualify for the Southland Oaks. Its her first stand start and she hasn’t trialled from a stand but seems sensible. Providing she steps she should be hard to to beat.”
