FIRST RANKINGS, CHRISTCHURCH CASINO NZ CUP

The first round of rankings for the 2014 edition of the Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup have been released (as of Tuesday, August 26, 2014).

The rankings list will determine the final field to contest the $700,000 3200 -metre Group One event at Addington Raceway on Tuesday, November 11.

Addington Raceway Racing Manager Brian Rabbitt said: “This is a very strong group of horses. The quality of those outside the top 15 is outstanding, especially in comparison to last year. That makes the club (NZ Metro) very excited about all the upcoming spring features, not just the ‘Cup’.”

Given the array of quality performers ranked below 15th and the depth of the Australian nomination, the scramble for spots on the second Tuesday in November may be as competitive as it has ever been. Four-year-olds Tiger Tara and Locharburn are sure to add an extra dimension to the build-up.

Each week the order of entry will be revisited by a select panel of judges and adjusted accordingly following races from the previous week. The next round of rankings will be released on the 9th September and then weekly from that point.

Form in races which have been marked as key lead up races to the Cup will in almost all cases hold priority over others during that week

Horses shall be ranked in the following descending order:
