JELLIGNITE CONTINUES TO WIN IN QUEENSLAND

Former Overport Lodge pacer (My) Jellignite continues to shine in the sunshine state of Queensland.

Now seven, the Courage Under Fire gelding racked up his 19th career win when he won in 1:53.3 (1660m) at Albion Park, Brisbane, on August 30.

After winning 10 from 38 starts in NZ, he was exported to Australia two years ago in search of better handicap opportunities.

He won $62,712 in NZ, but his lifetime earnings have grown to $A174,966 across the Tasman for breeder-owner, Mrs Pat Campbell.

Jellignite, from the Badlands Hanover mare Badjelly The Wytch, has a career best mile of 1:52.4, set at Menangle last year.

Younger brother Badjellys Courage, after placing in both his two NZ starts, has also been successful in Australia, winning 10 of 43 starts career for $A36,450.

Badjellys Courage also raced for a time in New South Wales, before also transferring to Queensland last year.

Former Overport Lodge pacers have been in good touch across the Tasman in recent weeks.

(Im), the younger brother to Alexis, Alex won a C3-6 pace at Penrith, NSW, on September 4.

Still raced by Queensland owner Greg Brodie, Alex joined the NSW stable of Peter Walsh last March.

A consistent winner of four and nine times placed from 31 NZ starts for $27,456, Alex has added another seven wins and 22 placings in NSW, taking his career earnings to $A81,066.

He has a fastest winning time of 1:54.8 over 1609m at Menangle.

(Jimmy) The Editor, bred by stable clients Frances and Max Bowden, is another to find his niche across the Tasman.

Now four, the son of Bettor’s Delight and Easy Falcon ran second to Franco Toulone at Oamaru in September last year, at his only NZ start for the Mark Jones stable.

The Editor notched his second win on end when a $1.30 favourite in a C0 pace at Geelong, Victoria, on September 7, leading up to win in a 1:59.2 rate over 2100m.

This was his third win from 18 starts, taking his earnings to $13,441. He has a fastest winning mile rate of 1:56.6, set when scoring two starts back at Ballarat in a 3YO pace over 1710m.

Courage Tells (7g Courage Under Fire-Tellalie), bred by Greg Brodie and sold after winning two of three juvenile starts in Southland, recorded his 21st career win from 80 lifetime starts in a C5+ pace at Northam, West Australia, on August 26.

He came off the back row to defeat other ex-Kiwis in Awesum Teddy and What God Knows, in a 1:59.8 rate over 2620m.

Courage Tells was another based in NSW, until transferring to West Australia in June. This was his fourth WA win.
