LETHAL ROCKET WINS MENANGLE DOUBLE
Former Overport Lodge pacer Lethal Rocket notched back-to-back wins at Menangle in his latest racing for NSW trainer-driver Darren Hancock on Saturday night, August 21, 2011.
The former well-performed Kiwi took out the $A17,0000 Number One Club Stable Discretionary Handicap (Class D).
After leading out then trailing, he defeated fellow ex-Cantab, The Big Mach by 3.1 metres.
Lethal Rocket paced the 2300m from a stand in a smart 2:49.7 (1:58.7 mile rate), the leaders quickening over their last 800m in 56.1s and final 400om in 27.2s.
Former South Island squaregaiter Makarewa Sun also furthered his top form since heading to NSW, scoring his fifth win from six Australian starts.
Makarewa Sun ran the 1609m in 1:56.8 to take his Australian earnings over $30,000. From 15 NZ starts last term, he won $15,752 from two wins and a second.
SAN FRAN LADY ALSO FIRING IN NSW
Former stablemate San Fran Lady (Live Or Die-Emcil) racked up her seventh NSW win when taking out the a C5-8 mobile 2030m pace at Newcastle on August 20.
Starting a $2.40 favourite in the hands of Guy Chappie, San Fran Lady came clear by 5.9 metres to score in a 1:57.8 mile rate, the leaders running their last 800m in 57.4s.
San Fran Lady, who won her first three races from the Mark Jones stable, has won seven from 15 starts in New South Wales, adding $A45,000 to her bankroll.
Her quickest run in is a 1:56.2 run over 1609m at Newcastle last October.
