Overport Lodge trainer Mark Jones is to drive visiting former Kiwi, Corzin Terror, for Victorian trainer Dean Braun, in next Tuesday’s $750,000 Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup.

Corzin Terror, sold out of the Colin and Julie De Filiippi stable after winning five from 27 NZ starts, has continued to make his mark across the Tasman, taking a 1:52.2 mile mark.

The 8YO Western Terror-Corzanello gelding is now the winner of 19 races from 72 lifetime starts for the equivalent of $NZ394,948 in stakes.

He won the Group 1 Ballarat Cup last December in a 1:59.7 rate (2710m), while he has other provincial wins in the Listed Maryborough Cup (twice), and the Bendigo and Terang Cups.

A last start Melton winner of a M2-4 pace in a 1:58.4 rate over 2240m on October 23, Corzin Terror is being stabled at Overport Lodge and will contest the NZ Cup trial on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, former Overport Lodge pacer Cruz Bromac, sold to clients of the Braun stable after qualifying at Timaru in July, resumed with a win in a heat of a series at Yarra Valley, Victoria, on Tuesday, November 3.

The 4YO Falcon Seelster-Crown Defender gelding is one of Australia’s most exciting pacers after winning in 1:51.6 (1609m) at just his third race start at Menangle on August 22.

Cruz Bromac, formerly co-owned by Mark and Andrew Stuart, ran fourth first-up in Australia but is now unbeaten at his next three starts.

He cleared out to win on Tuesday by 19.9 metres, rating 1:57.9 for the 2150m, pacing his last 800m in 55.9s.

Cruz Bromac is scheduled to head to Perth later this month for the McInerney Ford 4YO Classic and the Golden Nugget.
