PERENNIAL PLACEGETTER SECOND IN FAREWELL RUN

Betta Klik stole a march for Robbie Close turning for home and spoiled the winning farewell for consistent C1 pacer Jaccka Len in the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve Mobile Pace at Addington on Friday, July 25.

Jaccka Len, to head north after failing to crack a win in Canterbury, despite going close several times, for the Mark Jones stable.

Jaccka Len, heading north after failing to crack a win in Canterbury.

Jaccka Len, held up when clearing traffic at the 300m for Michelle Neilson, finished stoutly when in the clear but came up a neck short in the junior drivers pace.

The Geoff Dunn-trained Better Klik lasted in a solid 1:57.9 rate for the 1950m.

Overport trainer Mark Jones is likely to send the Butterworth Racing Syndciate-owned Jaccka Len north to Ardmore trainer Tony Herlihy, before the horse ultimately ends up in Victoria.

Jaccka Len, a 4YO McArdle gelding, purchased by the Butterworth Syndicate after winning his Winton debut last September, racked up seven seconds and two thirds in 13 starts for the Jones stable, but couldn’t crack a win for the stable.

Meanwhile, ex-Overport Lodge pacer Atom Of Courage continued his good work across the Tasman at Tabcorp Park, Menangle, on Saturday night.

The 7YO Courage Under Fire-Trustee Mota gelding kept kicking for trainer-driver Ashlee Siejka to just hold fellow ex-Kiwi Chardanae in 1:54.1 (1609m) in a $A12,000 free-for-all pace.

Atom Of Courage was racking up his 21st career win from 108 starts, for nearly $A230,000 in stakes, however this was his first since January, 2013.

He has a career best of 1:52.1 over 1609m, set at Menangle in February 2012.

MINIMUM STAKES UP 40 PERCENT

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

Addington is pleased to announce that minimum stakes are on the increase to $7000 for the 2014-15 season for New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club (NZMTC) races which is a 40% increase on minimum stakes from the 2013-14 season.

This represents a significant rise from 2011 when minimum stakes were $3000 and an increase on the 2013-14 season’s minimum stake of $5,000 for Tuesday quality races.

The $7000 minimum stakes for NZTMC meetings are amongst the highest raced for on any Metropolitan Harness Race Track in Australasia.

Also on the increase on feature race dates are stakes for C0 horses from $8000 to $9000 and C1 to C2 horses from $10,000 to $11,000.
In another move by the NZMTC, all runners will be guaranteed a return no matter where they finish with 2% of the total race stake paid to connections of all non-stakes bearing runners.
